At BalanSense-Therapy, LLC, we see the need in helping individuals with APD/CAPD challenges. Our approach uses a music therapy treatment, the Focus iLs, that enables the brain to focus on frequencies of human speech. Many individuals that suffer from APD/CAPD aren't even aware that they have trouble hearing and understanding words (their brain misinterprets words). In addition, they are distracted from other sounds that are more dominant, like an air conditioner, fans, or someone drumming with their fingers on a table. Therefore, when listening to another person, the person with APD/CAPD often feels misunderstood and does not understand why, which in itself can be very frustrating. Maybe you or your child were told that they are slow learners or thinkers, or, are just not able to learn as others do. Often, people report when learning a new subject, they have a tough time understanding it, as they require an overview of the subject from the start, which makes it more difficult for them learn efficiently. Over time, dealing with these challenges gives rise to shame and anxiety, compromising self-confidence. Overall, you or your child might feel that they cannot keep up with society's demands. At BalanSense-Therapy, we use sensory system stimulation to create new synaptic communication between the brain and the world that surrounds us, allowing the brain to organize, process, differentiate, and learn, while benefiting from "Neuroplasticity", the brain's ability to create new pathways. Therefore, while a child's brain is still developing, we suggest to seek services as early as possible.
